Topical local anesthesia on accessible mucous membranes (endoscopy or exploration of esophagus, larynx, mouth, nasal cavity, pharynx, rectum, trachea and urinary tract), symptomatic relief of anorectal disorders (hemorrhoids, anorectal pain), treatment of disorders of the oral cavity (pain from irritation, inflammation in mouth and gum lesions, pain from dental prostheses), treatment of pharyngeal pain, relief and control of pain in urethritis, treatment of pain, itching and inflammation of minor skin diseases. Parenterally, it is indicated to produce local or regional anesthesia, analgesia and neuromuscular block to a variable degree before dental surgery and obstetric delivery; intravenously or intramuscularly (systemic action) is the drug of choice for the emergency treatment of ventricular arrhythmias.
